IVR Frequently Asked Questions

1. Why do I get a busy signal?

A busy signal means that all 16 lines are in use. This may occur during the peak times of 2:30 – 4 p.m. Please try again.

2. What do conditions attached to my permit mean and why can’t I proceed with my inspections?

Conditions are requirements that you must meet in order to be in compliance with various building codes, zoning codes, ordinances and policies. These conditions and their descriptions are located on the back of your permit. You must be in compliance with these conditions before scheduling inspections because part of the inspection process is verification that the building and site are in compliance with all conditions.

3. What is a Prior to Final?

A Prior to Final Condition needs to be satisfied before you can proceed with final inspections.

4. What are the peak hours for IVR phone calls?

Between 2:30 – 4 p.m.

5. When I call, how soon will my inspection be?

The inspections are generally made on the next working day after you call and request them. There is a 4 P.M. cut off for next day inspections. This means if you call before 4 P.M. on Monday the inspection should be on Tuesday.

6. How do I contact the inspector?

The inspectors accept calls at 740-6716 from 7:00 to 7:30 A.M.
Monday through Friday.

7. What time will my inspector be at my property?

Building inspections are scheduled between the hours of 7:00 A.M. and 3:00 P.M., Monday through Friday. Due to the large number of inspections scheduled each day and the distance between the inspections, we are unable to provide an estimated time of arrival.

8. Will my inspector call me before he shows up?

No, unless the inspector needs to call for directions, or if it’s noted on the inspection request to call prior to inspection by the customer.

9. Did I pass my inspection?

The inspectors leave inspection results on the job site when they are finished with the inspection.

10. Do you know if the IVR scheduled my inspection?

It was scheduled if you received a call number afterwards.

11. What inspection do I schedule next?

The construction of buildings is a complicated endeavor. Many different factors will influence which inspection and in which order they will be required. The responsibility for knowing the sequence of inspections rests with the builder.

12. When will I receive my green gas tag?

After the final inspections have been completed and approved.
